Key Tech Medic policies...
- Our standard billing rate is $144/hr.
- Given that we require no retainer, to happily be there for our clients, short consultations via phone, email & text, 1min or longer, are logged on a tab (& billed when exceeding $50).
- To be accurate, billable labor is prorated, rounded up to the nearest 5mins.
- Travel costs depend on zip code (ex: 02906 = $15 & East Greenwich $90).
- As a consulting & repair service (not a “retail shop”), help is by appointment. (see Booking)
- Most appointments are booked 1-3 days out.
- For evening/weekend work OR If asked to prioritize your pressing needs, our labor rate is “time-and-a-half.”
- For new clients, we take Venmo, cash, or a CC (with a 3% surcharge).
- For established clients, brief sessions are logged on a tab (until exceeding $50).
- Most clients pay by check or Venmo.
Further rate discounts can be earned by successful referrals to new clients, positive reviews online (let us know!), participation in maintenance programs & longterm patronage.
Most of our work is done on an incremental basis so that...
- Computer & logistical processes can run their course.
- You or we can handle matters such as research, corresponding with a 3rd party or ordering parts.
- You can acquaint yourself with any adjustments made to your system.
- You can discover and document fresh concerns that become apparent.
- If problems arise after a session with us, that usually just means more work, billed at normal rates, is necessary.
However, If we make an error or misjudgment, at our discretion, we will correct the problem for free.

Most quotes are generated through the process of assessing and strategizing about a problem & billed normally. Some simple quotes require a flat online assessment of $10 to get a quote for:

- Replacing broken laptop screens
- Replacing laptop batteries
- Storage upgrades
- Infection assessments
Exceptions are:
- Virus disinfections get a 3-day guarantee that the virus doesn’t recur (since some people’s habits lead them to reinfect themselves)
- If after a disinfection, we find your OS is corrupted or your data is still locked up by ransomware, the work to address that would be at standard rates
- New parts often come with a 1yr warranty. Most used parts have no warranty, but let us know if that’s of interest. If a warranty replacement becomes needed 30 or more days after repair, any Tech Medic assessment or labor would be billable.

- Credit card over the phone (incurring a 3% surcharge to cover our fees).

Appointment Cancellation Policy: We require a 24-hour notice for cancellations. Failure to provide timely notice may result in a cancellation fee.
Payment Policy: Payment is due at the time of service. We accept various payment methods including credit cards, PayPal, and Venmo.
Data Privacy Policy: We take data privacy seriously. All client data is handled with the utmost confidentiality and in compliance with relevant data protection laws.
Warranty Policy: Our services come with a 30-day warranty. If you experience any issues within this period, we will address them at no additional cost.
